Curriculum

Our curriculum is an engaging and creative curriculum that provides many cross-curricular opportunities for our pupils.  Every term each class reads a book that their topics and subjects are based around.  This is to enable the children to immerse themselves within the book and produce high quality work within the topic.  An educational visit takes place at the beginning of a new term to launch the topic and allows the children to have first hand experiences.  For example in Year 5 in the summer term Moondial is the class book and a visit to Belton House takes place which is where the story is set.

In Foundation Stage there is an emphasis on phonics.  The mains scheme used is Schofield and Sims Letters and Sounds.  Reading schemes used include Oxford University Press, Sails, Jelly and Bean and Big Cat Phonics.

In Key Stage One Ginn ad Red Rocket reading schemes are used.

 Mathletics

Our biggest school improvement objective is to be brilliant at maths. We are working hard to be 'Maths Magicians!'

Every child has a log in for 'Mathletics' which is an internet based maths improvement site. Child can challenge themselves to learn and enhance their maths skills both at school and at home.

Children have said, 'I love mathletics, I have learnt so much, I now do mathletics instead of playing computer games!'

Keep up the hard work everyone!
